Cragg Lodge is steeped in history. This Grade II listed former byre, with cosy wood burner and high lofty beams, is a wonderful retreat for couples, friends or a small family. A private patio area is to the side with access to explore this 1, 000 acre estate and use of all the gardens. There are beautiful walks right from the door. West Woodburn is a small village with a friendly pub, 1¼ miles, and small post office, set right on the edge of the glorious Northumberland National Park, yet has easy access all over the county.
The interior is quirky with a ground floor kingsize bedroom and a wonderful mezzanine double bedroom where you can feel the warmth of the wood burner whilst lying in bed looking at the beautiful views. The bathroom is easily accessible on the ground floor. The living area is comfy for four people with the large wall mounted TV and feature wood burner, and the large separate kitchen/dining room is ideal for sharing some special meals together.
Travel over to Hadrian’s Wall and stop off at some Roman forts or visit the historic little town of Corbridge or the larger town of Hexham. Even the coast is less than an hour’s drive should you wish to spend a day at the beaches. Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland is just under an hour away where you can spend a day looking round the magnificent castle or the Duchess water gardens. Cragg Lodge provides a wonderful holiday base from which to travel the whole of this friendly, diverse county with miles of golden beaches and rugged moorlands.
