Town Hall Cottage
With origins dating back to the 1600s, Town Hall Cottage oozes authentic charm whilst enjoying a wealth of modern comforts and added luxuries to make your holiday extra special. This charming stone cottage is set in the pretty Northumbrian village of Newbrough. Town Hall Cottage is located on Stanegate, the Roman road that linked Corbridge to Carlisle. Woodland walks and riverside rambles are accessible from the doorstep. Why not end your stroll at the nearby village pub? Your relaxing countryside escape awaits you.
Lovingly restored throughout by its owners in 2021, Town Hall Cottage’s country style exudes character and warmth with its double frontage and signature red door. A cosy sitting room complete with exposed beams, an original stone inglenook fireplace and wood-burning stove welcomes you. Velvet sofas provide a high level of comfort and Smart TV for your viewing with a selection of games for traditional family entertainment. The stylish kitchen / dining area features gloss units and full range of appliances. The dining table has a pleasant aspect by the window so you can look out on village life. In the rear courtyard is a small laundry room with Belfast sink and washing machine, perfect for muddy boots and hanging wet coats after a day of exploring. Upstairs are two bedrooms: a beautiful master bedroom offering a king-size bed, . An elegant and peaceful room, just the place to catch up on some well-earned rest. Next door you’ll find the second bedroom set with twin beds, with décor to match the master bedroom. The bathroom is also upstairs and comes complete with a clawfoot bath for sumptuous soaking. There is a separate shower for convenience along with, handbasin and toilet. There is a separate ground floor WC.
The rear courtyard, which is completely enclosed, is wholly private and perfect for a morning coffee. Accessed from the first floor is a spacious balcony area set with table and chairs, a lovely spot for enjoying an evening aperitif. For keen cyclists there are endless choices from the Sandstone Way to Kielder Forest Trails. For walkers, choose beautiful walks along the River Tyne or hearty hikes along Hadrian’s Wall. Visit the historic market town of Hexham, which boasts a stunning abbey, the oldest gaol in the country and an abundance of eclectic shops, restaurants and pubs. Continue to the beautiful Roman town of Corbridge and meander round its boutique shops, art galleries and visit the Roman site.
The Northumberland National Park and International Dark Skies Park are both close by, offering fabulous scenery and views. The location is excellent for exploring Vindolanda and Housesteads Roman Forts and the world-famous Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall. In 40 minutes of driving, you can be in the vibrant city of Newcastle. In just over an hour’s drive is the beautiful Northumberland coast with endless stunning beaches and ancient castles.
