Perfectly positioned next to the Nenthead Mines is Corner Cottage, a unique, characterful cottage crammed full of charm and original features, perfect for couples or small families ideal for exploring the many sights that this area has to offer. A short drive to the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Northumberland National Parks enhancing your stay to include the many Peaks, Lakes and tourist attractions of the North of England. Perched high up on the border between Cumbria and Northumberland, and within easy access of the beautiful Weardale Valley and Yorkshire. Originally built in the 18th century to house workers for the local lead and silver mines, making Nenthead one of the earliest purpose-built industrial villages in Britain. The nearby market town of Alston is only 4 miles and is a bustling town with a reputation for fantastic local mustards and cheeses. Alston is also the starting point for the South Tynedale Railway, England’s highest narrow-gauge railway.
