Warcop is a typical Cumbrian Village with regular community events where all are welcome and there is a children’s play area on the village green. Appleby and Kirkby Stephen are interesting market towns offering independent shops and cafés, and sit just a few miles away from Warcop. The area enjoys a wealth of villages and hamlets throughout this scenic part of the Eden Valley. A popular spot for walkers and cyclists, routes are plentiful and offer something for all abilities.
Beyond the immediate area, The North Pennines and Alston are within just a short drive, and a spectacular route reaching a summit of almost 2000ft giving glorious views over the Lake District and Pennine fells. The Yorkshire Dales and High Force in Teesdale are also a short drive away, as is Tan Hill, the highest pub in England. The Northern Lake District including Ullswater and the villages dotting the lake shores are well worth a visit and just half an hour’s drive away. Equally the market towns of Keswick and Penrith offer something for everyone and a fabulous mix of retailers, cafés, traditional inns and international restaurants. Gretna Green and the Scottish Borders are also just an hour’s drive away. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
