Ravens Heugh and Bridge End Cottage are ideally located within walking distance of two friendly village pubs with excellent food in Thropton just outside the historic and pretty small market town of Rothbury, Set just beside the bridge with a pretty running burn the private grounds offer some peace whilst you can take a chair and sit by the running water for some relaxation. With private sitting areas and grassed areas to the rear the cottages offer some original charm with lovely light airy rooms with some gorgeous views over the countryside from many of the windows.
Ravens Heugh has two living rooms one with an additional sofa bed for up to two people in a private space. The good size kitchen/dining area means you can enjoy family meals together, whilst Bridge End Cottage has its own separate dining room. Rothbury is a super base for exploring the stunning countryside which can be done by foot, cycle, or car. With many pubs and cafés and some bespoke shops, there is something here for all tastes and age groups. Nearby you can visit Cragside House the home of Lord Armstrong on the outskirts of the town; a beautiful National Trust visitors site. Serious walkers would like to visit the Simonside Hills for exhilarating rambles.
Rothbury is known as the Capital of Coquetdale and is ideally located for exploring the nearby villages, set on the edge of the National park with easy access over to the Northumberland heritage Coast AONB and only 12 miles from Alnwick famed for the castle used in some Harry Potter scenes. The National Park can be easily reached, and Kielder has a host of water sports. The drive along the lake is pretty spectacular and the dark skies at night are a big visitor attraction.
