Longknowe Barn sits in a commanding upland setting, with views down the valley and within the Northumberland National Park, about 9 miles from Wooler. The open plan living area is wonderfully light and spacious with inviting sofas and a welcoming wood burner. There is a home cinema system and Wi-Fi but variable mobile signal, so this property is just perfect for an escape.
The ground floor bedroom looks onto the surrounding hills and the galleried area with a double futon bed is suitable for extra guests. Plenty of toys are provided to keep young children amused, and paddling in the small stream is sure to be fun for all. Longknowe Barn is set within the enclosed grounds of the owner’s holiday home, and has a large, sheltered, grassed garden at the rear and a small patio area at the front. Hillwalking tracks pass the cottage and there are remains of a Roman period farmstead just below.
Wooler has a variety of local shops, cafés and pubs, and being close to the Scottish border, there are interesting towns and villages to explore throughout the area. There are glorious sandy beaches at Goswick and Bamburgh, along with castles and famous gardens in Alnwick. Seals and puffins can be seen on the Farne Islands and Holy Island also makes for a great day out. Beach 18 miles. Shop and restaurant 6 miles, pub 8 miles.
