There is a stunning sweep of golden sandy bay at Embleton only 3 miles up the coastline. An extra couple of miles is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses, where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony, depart regularly from its harbour.
