The Witheys
The Withies is in the popular seaside resort of Newbiggin-By-The-Sea, offering spacious, well equipped accommodation for a small family or group of friends. Here you will find plenty of interest for a family holiday at the seaside. With a glorious sandy beach and sweeping bay which is ideal for picnics or exploring the rock pools. Also a cliff-top golf course, sailing club, lifeboat station and the Newbiggin Maritime Centre. There is a small high street in Newbiggin with an assortment of shops, cafés, pubs and takeaways. Café Bertorelli, a family-run Italian ice cream parlour, dating back to the 1950s, is in the centre of the promenade next to the bandstand. Nearby Woodhorn Museum has regular events and holds genealogy records, and is situated next to the QE2 Park, which has a large lake with swans. Cresswell and Druridge Bay are close by and are the start of the stunning Northumberland Heritage Coast, where you can follow the trail all the way up past Bamburgh to Holy Island. The pretty, historic town of Morpeth is only 7½ miles away, with a fine selection of shops and pubs. The town of Amble, with its great Sunday market, is only 13 miles and has a working harbour, whilst Newcastle is 18 miles. Kielder Water, situated in the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, is 53 miles away. Other places of interest to visit include Alnwick Castle and its gardens, 25 miles, Hadrian’s Wall, 45 miles, the Farne Islands and Holy Island. The Withies is a homely base that is perfect for exploring the many visitor attractions in what is reputedly the friendliest county in England. Beach 500 yards.
