An extra couple of miles up the coastline is Seahouses; a great stop for fish and chips as well as many other eateries. Boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands depart regularly from the harbour. Heading a little further north brings you to Bamburgh, famous for its majestic castle.
A short drive inland is the market town of Alnwick, where there is a wide array of shops and restaurants. Alnwick Castle and Garden are popular visitor attractions. Beach 1½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.
