West Shieling is the ideal bolthole for visiting the Lakes. This semi-detached, single-storey property is an old converted Methodist church, dating back to 1875. It was built along with many others in and around Ulverston as a place of worship for those working at the Steel works, on the Canal Foot in Ulverston. It has been refurbished to a very good standard, making it perfect for your holiday. At the end of the canal walks at Canal Foot is a good pub and restaurant serving very good lunch time and evening meals. The lakes are also nearby with Fell Foot, Newby Bridge and the start of Windermere only a few miles away. You can take the coast road up to Ravenglass to visit the La’al Ratty, or visit the great beach at Silecroft. The large ship building town of Barrow-in-Furness is only 11 miles away with good shopping facilities and there is the Dock Museum and Walney Island with its bird sanctuary which are well worth a visit. You can simply relax and sit out with a glass of wine, whilst you enjoy the sunset, or take a brief 15 minute drive to soak in the view. Canal Foot is a pleasant walk and with beautiful open views of Morecambe bay it is a sight to behold. Beach 3 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
