Foxglove is a log cabin in Staintondale. It's detached and sits well back from the lane. You get the lawn to yourselves. The decking out front gets the sun.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One is an en-suite off the main bedroom. The other is a Jack-and-Jill between the two twin rooms downstairs. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's clean and comfortable but don't expect anything luxurious.
The main living space is open plan, kitchen, dining, and sitting area all together. The ceiling is high. There's a mezzanine upstairs with a small balcony that has a bistro set. You can see a sliver of sea from there.
The stairs up to the mezzanine and master bedroom are ship's ladder style. They're steep and open-tread, so they're not suitable for very young children or anyone unsteady on their feet.
There's parking right next to the cabin. It's all on one level from the parking area to the front door, with a ramp. The doors are wide. A wheelchair user could get in, but the internal layout and stairs mean it wouldn't be fully accessible for moving around inside.
You can bring one dog. The garden is enclosed, but it's not dog-proof fencing all the way round, so you'd need to keep an eye.
The old Scarborough to Whitby railway line is just behind the cabin. It's now a cinder track for walking and cycling. It's a nice, flat route. You can walk to a secluded bay with waterfalls from there, about a ten-minute stroll.
You're about a fifteen-minute drive from Scarborough one way and twenty from Whitby the other. Robin Hood's Bay is very close, maybe ten minutes by car. Ravenscar is just up the road.
For days out, the North York Moors National Park website is good for walks. Whitby Abbey is the main historic site nearby.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer in the utility room. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. There's a TV and WiFi.
