Pine Door is an old cottage in Eyam. It’s about 400 years old. You get two bedrooms and it sleeps four. It has a 4-star rating. It’s been done up but it’s still very much an old cottage.
The stairs inside are steep and narrow, as you’d expect. There’s a wood burner in the main room, which is nice in the evening. The floor in there is stone, so it can feel cool. The kitchen is separate, down a couple of steps. It’s a galley kitchen, so it’s a bit narrow but it has what you need.
The garden is south-facing. It’s a proper cottage garden with a patio area. You can sit out there and watch the village go by.
Parking can be tricky right outside the cottage, especially in summer. There’s free parking at the Miners Arms car park, which is a couple of minutes’ walk away. We leave a trolley in the garden for your bags.
Eyam itself is a lovely village. There’s a shop, a couple of tea rooms, and a good pub. The whole story of the plague is fascinating; you can follow the signs around the village about it. Being in the Peak District, it’s perfect for walking straight from the door. For more ideas, the Peak District National Park site is useful.
Chatsworth House is about a twenty-minute drive. Bakewell is maybe fifteen minutes. For a longer day out, you can get to Manchester or Sheffield in around forty-five minutes.
The cottage has wifi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We accept up to two dogs. There’s a stairgate at the bottom of the stairs if you need it.
