Winhill Cottage
Winhill Cottage is a detached chalet on our land on the edge of Thornhill, near Bamford. It’s just you up here, with a view out over the valley. The skyline looks different every day.
It sleeps four, but it’s one bedroom, which is a large double. Then there’s a double sofa bed in the open plan living area. So it’s really for a couple, or a couple with two kids. You get two bathrooms, both with showers. That’s handy. It's a 4 Star place, so it’s comfortable and well-equipped.
The patio and garden are for your use. It’s a good sun trap in the afternoon. There’s space for bikes under cover if you bring them.
You can walk straight from the door into the hills. The path down to Ladybower Dam is about a seven-mile walk each way, so it's a full day. Edale, where the Pennine Way starts, is a short drive away. The National Trust Peak District site has good information for walks.
For supplies, the nearest shop is in Bamford, about a mile and a half. The pub in Thornhill is a mile's walk, mostly downhill. Remember it’s uphill on the way back.
Chatsworth House is about a twenty-minute drive. Bakewell is maybe fifteen minutes. Both get busy in summer. If you're into climbing or caving, you're in the right area. There's also horse riding and a golf course nearby.
Inside, there's a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and included bedding and towels. We can provide a cot and highchair. There's parking right by the cottage. No pets, I'm afraid.
