Morton Loft
Morton Loft is in Hathersage, right on the main road through the village. It's a first-floor apartment above a shop. The butchers and deli are downstairs, which is handy. There's a little stream that runs past the side.
It sleeps five, but it's all in one big bedroom upstairs. So it's a good setup for a family or a group of friends who don't mind sharing. One bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. We refurbished it all in 2021, so the kitchen and bathroom are new. It feels fresh and clean.
You get to it by an external staircase at the side. Once you're in, the main room has a high, beamed ceiling. The views from the front windows are good. You can see right across the village and the valley.
Hathersage has everything you need. Shops, a couple of supermarkets for basics, cafes, and good pubs. There's an open-air heated swimming pool that's open all year, which is a bit different. You're in the Peak District National Park, so walking and climbing are on the doorstep. Stanage Edge is very close for that.
Castleton is about ten minutes' drive. Eyam is fifteen minutes. Bakewell and Chatsworth House are about twenty minutes away. The train station is a short walk and goes to Sheffield, Manchester, and places like Edale and Hope in the valley.
It has parking for one car off the road. There's WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
