Heartlands is a free to enter tourist attraction great for all ages, as is the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site in Cornwall. Set in 19 acres, it offers a playground for children, five unique gardens and state of the art exhibitions, as well as a café, great for wet as well as sunny days.
For those that enjoy walking, The Great Flat Lode is a 7-mile circular walk that can also be cycled, you can walk or cycle from the property along the road and meet the start of the trail, a wonderful way to wear out your children. A popular area to visit is Carn Brea, reaching up to 738 feet above sea level and where you can see both Redruth and Camborne. You will also see Carn Brea Castle, originally an Elizabethan hunting lodge it is now a restaurant.
The closest beach is Portreath just over 6 miles away. Ideal for families, it offers amenities as well as a café, and has plenty of parking. You can cycle from Portreath to Bissoe and back, bikes can be hired locally. The area is great for water sports. Stithians Lake is just over 4 miles away and has excellent facilities, including lessons and equipment hire.
