Melvill House is a bright, Victorian house that has been sympathetically converted to a self-catering holiday property. Six bedrooms sleeping up to thirteen people with various formats, all of which have en-suite facilities, great views from the bedrooms to the rear of the property down to Falmouth harbour and docks and over to the Roseland Peninsula in the distance. On the ground floor are two reception rooms so the guests’ age groups can be segregated if required, both with beautiful decor, a large dining room with bay window, and a very well-equipped kitchen with ample capacity to cook for larger family groups.
Melvill House is a 5-minute walk from a superb mix of attractions, pubs, restaurants and shops around the waterfront area. The highlight for many is Event Square, where the National Maritime Museum stands, superyachts are moored and there are various inviting eateries, including Rick Stein’s Restaurant with a fish and chip shop alongside. Not only very close to town Melvill House is even closer to the golden crescent of sand at Gyllyngvase beach, which is family-friendly, great for watersports and has lifeguard cover from May to September. Gyllyngvase Hill is just opposite the house and runs down to the beach in 300 yards. Swanpool beach and boating park is just a bit further round the coast and is well worth visiting. If you feel a little more energetic, the stroll around Pendennis Point and Castle provides some of the finest views across the Carrick Roads to St Mawes and out across Falmouth Bay towards the Helford estuary.
Melvill House can be booked with Lower Deck At Melvill House to accommodate upto 18 guests. Beach 530 yards.
