A former fisherman’s cottage lovingly renovated to create a warm and cosy holiday home. This period cottage is the perfect property for couples to experience Cornwall, set in the heart of St Mawes with views across the harbour and a short walk to the beach.
As you enter through the stable door, you will see the tastefully decorated, open plan ground floor which invites you in. There is a variety of period features such as the log burning fire, beamed ceilings and stone walls. After a day at the beach, the comfy sofas are perfect to relax and watch TV or enjoy a glass of wine. From the sitting area, a couple of steps lead to the modern hand-crafted kitchen and dining area fitted with integrated fridge & freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, electric oven and hob, plus a fitted microwave and a Nespresso coffee machine. From the dining area, a turning wooden staircase rises to the first floor to the master bedroom set to the front of the property and is a bright double room which also has views across the harbour. Across the landing is a modern shower room with underfloor heating and the important double shower cubicle.
From the cottage, you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the public car park a short walk away. The rows of pastel and whitewashed cottages, the castle and the imposing lighthouse that stands guard on St Anthony Head all contribute to the fairytale feel, and the sailing is magical, too. Here you have the sheltered bay and the Carrick Roads where weekly races and regular regattas culminate in August’s Falmouth Week. It’s no coincidence that the River Fal is where Sir Ben Ainslie honed his skills. The St Mawes Ferry, which goes to and from Falmouth, shares the water with grand yachts, dinghies, shabby fishing boats and rowers in their pilot gigs. Children spend blissful hours rockpooling on the two small beaches, and there’s plenty more to do; browsing the boutiques, lounging on nearby Carne beach, going for coastal walks or investigating the many fantastic gardens nearby.
