Coverack is a pretty fishing village tucked away in a sheltered bay on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula. Unsurprisingly, the main point of interest is the little harbour and beach, where a good-sized beach is exposed at low tide. The harbour was constructed in 1724 from local green serpentine and hornblende for the growing pilchard fleet that operated from here. The pilchard shoals are now gone, but there are still a small number of little boats working from the harbour here.
You will be astonished at the fantastic view from Lowlands of Coverack beach and harbour and the picturesque St Peters Church. Coverack boasts several cafes, takeaways and a lovely little pub with great food and local beer. There is a vast amount to do on the Lizard, with the nearby fishing villages of Porthallow and Cadgwith, and sampling the local wealth of rural pubs and restaurants. There are glorious clifftop walks, such as the Lizard itself. There are stunning sandy beaches like Cadgwith, Pentreath, Kennack Sands, Kynance Cove, Poldhu or Loe Bar, stretching from Gunwalloe to Porthleven there are many tourist attractions like Flambards, Poldark Mine or Goonhilly. Beach ½ mile.
