Retaining all the rustic charm of an authentic Cornish cottage with its exposed beams, stripped wooden flooring, traditional wood-burner, column radiators and exposed granite throughout, it is a quintessential cottage that combines mod cons with character and comfort. As an historic building, the property does have quite narrow staircases, but this adds to its charm. There is a cosy living room on the ground floor to the rear of the kitchen with the easy to use wood burner and a comfortable living room on the first floor with a lovely large sofa to relax. The double and twin bedrooms are on the second floor and there is a further twin room in the converted loft space accessible through the second floor twin room.
St Ives, once a busy fishing village, now relies on tourism as its main industry. Turner came and painted a landscape in 1811 and art has played a part in St Ives’ history ever since. Skidden House at the bottom of Skidden Hill is the oldest working hotel in the town as well as the first hostelry where Guinness was sold in the UK in 1760. St Ives and St Columb Major near Newquay are the only two locations left in Cornwall where ’Hurling the Silver Ball’ takes place, once one of Cornwall’s most ancient and intriguing customs.
Beach 170 yards and fishing is available nearby. Pub within a mile.
