The Byre

The Byre is in Berrynarbor, just outside Ilfracombe. It's part of a small complex of converted farm buildings. We live on site in the Old Granary, so we're usually about if you need anything.

It's a 5 Star place, which means it's quite new and well-finished inside. It sleeps four, in two double bedrooms. Both bedrooms are on the ground floor and each has its own ensuite bathroom.

Upstairs is all one open space: living room, dining area, and kitchen. The doors open out onto a south-facing garden with a hot tub. There's also a shared garden area up some steps that has good views towards the coast and Exmoor.

You can bring two dogs. There's a proper dog shower outside, which is useful if they've been on the beach.

The access lane is a farm track. It's not tarmacked, but it's fine for normal cars. Just take it steady.

Ilfracombe is about ten minutes by car. It's a proper working harbour. You can get boat trips from there: the Ilfracombe Princess goes out to see seals and birds, or you can go over to Lundy Island for the day.

The big surfing beaches like Woolacombe, Croyde, and Saunton Sands are all within a twenty to thirty minute drive. Combe Martin is very close. It's a long, narrow village with a beach.

For walking, you're right by Exmoor. It's about twenty minutes to get up onto the high moor. The Arlington Court estate is nearby and good for a gentler stroll.

The facilities list is mostly accurate. It's got a wood burner, a dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. All bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.

If you're a bigger group, The Shippon next door is the same style and the two can be booked together.
