Hidden Gem

This place is called Hidden Gem. It’s a detective cottage just outside Berrynarbor, up on the hill. You’ll need a car.

It sleeps five, in three bedrooms. They each have their own bathroom. Very handy. There’s a bit of a quirk in that one of the bedrooms has a sliding door into the main living area. When it’s shut it’s fine, but it’s not a solid wall. Good for a family but maybe less so for two couples wanting complete privacy.

The road back up from the village is steep. Just so you know.

There’s a shop and a pub about a ten minute walk away, downhill. The pub does food.

Ilfracombe is the nearest proper town, about ten minutes by car. It has a harbour, shops, and the Tunnel Beaches. Combe Martin and its wildlife park are close by too. For beaches, you want to go to Woolacombe or Croyde for surfing, or find the smaller coves along the coast.

Lynton and Lynmouth are worth the drive, maybe half an hour. Exmoor is right there for walking. The National Trust at Arlington is nearby, and so is the Tarka Trail if you fancy a cycle.

Facilities are all there. Washing machine, dishwasher, parking, a garden. There’s an electric vehicle charger. It’s a 5 Star place, so it’s well equipped and comfortable. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair.
