Granary
The Granary is on the Trimstone Manor estate here in North Devon. It's a converted stone building, terraced with a couple of others. It sleeps eight, which really means three good-sized bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 3 Star rating so it's not luxury, but it's clean and comfy.
You get your own patio out the front, overlooking the shared gardens. The main living area is open plan. It's practical, not fancy.
The real draw for the site is the shared stuff. There's an indoor heated pool, which is great if the weather turns. There's a small games room with a pool table, and a gym area with a treadmill and bike. The grounds are big. There's a formal garden, and fields you can use for a kickabout or a BBQ. We keep some poultry, so you'll see chickens, peacocks and a few others wandering about.
The coast is about a ten-minute drive. Woolacombe beach has that long stretch of sand. Croyde and Saunton are close by too, good for surf. Braunton is the nearest proper village for shops, about three miles.
If you want to explore, Braunton Burrows is an interesting dune system. Ilfracombe has a harbour and you can get boat trips from there. For a day out, Exmoor National Park is within half an hour. The Tarka Trail for cycling is easy to get to from Barnstaple. Barnstaple itself has all the main shops, a cinema, and a theatre.
A few practical things. The on-site restaurant does breakfast and cream teas, but it's not open for lunch or dinner. We do have a list of good local places we can recommend. There's a lounge bar on site. Wi-Fi is included. We can provide a cot and highchair. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome.
