Elm Lodge

Right, Elm Lodge. It's in Hele, Devon. Actually let me start with the main thing: you're really close to the sea here. Hele Beach is about half a mile down the road. It's a nice little bay. Ilfracombe is two miles away, that's the bigger town.

The lodge itself is detached. It sleeps four in two bedrooms. One's a kingsize with an en-suite shower room, and the other's a twin. They both have TVs. There's a separate main shower room as well.

It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable, clean, modern. The living space is open plan with patio doors out to a big deck. The kitchen has what you need. There's a dishwasher. The electric fire is remote controlled, which is handy.

The decking is enclosed on two sides. There's furniture out there. Parking is on the road outside, there's usually space.

It's on a well-kept park. They have a kids' play area, a toilet block with showers, a laundry, and even a dog washing station. It's one pet allowed, by the way.

For things to do: Ilfracombe has the harbour, fish and chips, shops. Damien Hirst's big statue 'Verity' is there. The South West Coast Path is right there for walking. If you head inland a bit, you've got the Tarka Trail on the old railway line. That's good for cycling or a flat walk.

Watermouth Castle and theme park is nearby for kids. Lundy Island trips go from Ilfracombe if you want a proper day out on the water. There's also local fishing and boat trips.
