Manor Cottage

Manor Cottage is on the Trimstone Manor estate near Braunton. It's one of eight places here, so you'll see other guests around, but it's quiet enough. The cottage sleeps five. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s a 3 Star place, so it's clean and practical but not luxurious.

The layout is a bit unusual. The living area is upstairs. It's open plan. You get a decent view over the gardens from up there. Downstairs is just the bedrooms and the bathroom. The stairs are steep, like in a lot of these old places.

You get your own patio and garden area. The main reason to book here is the shared facilities. There's an indoor heated pool, which is great if the weather's bad. There's also a sauna, a small gym, a games room with a pool table, and a tennis court. The grounds are big, with fields and a formal garden. They keep chickens, geese, and even a couple of emus and peacocks.

The location is good. It's about three miles to the coast. Woolacombe beach is about a ten minute drive. It's a long sandy beach, good for swimming and surfing. Croyde and Saunton are just as close. Braunton village is three miles away and has shops and pubs.

If you want to go further, Ilfracombe is about fifteen minutes by car. Barnstaple is twenty minutes. For a day out, the Tarka Trail is good for cycling, or you can go to Exmoor. It's about half an hour's drive to get into Exmoor National Park.

Onsite, there's a lounge bar. The restaurant does breakfast and cream teas, but it's not open for lunch or dinner. They'll give you a list of local pubs and restaurants.

Things you should know: bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. WiFi works okay. You can bring two dogs. Parking is right outside.
