The Plough is in Berrynarbor, which is a quiet village in a valley. It's a semi-detached cottage. We refurbished it completely a few years back.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms downstairs, one double and one twin. One bathroom with a bath and a shower over it. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and everything works as it should.
Upstairs is all open plan: living room, dining area, and kitchen with a dishwasher. There's a Smart TV. The best bit is the sun terrace at the front. It gets the sun from morning until late afternoon. There's outdoor furniture out there.
You share the grounds with the other cottages here. There's a big, flat paddock which is good for kids and dogs to run about in. There's a field opposite with our two Shetland ponies in it. There's a small play area for children, an orchard, and a covered games room with table tennis, table football, and darts. The laundry room is shared too, with a washing machine and tumble dryer. There's a freezer with a drawer labelled for this cottage.
The village has a pub. Combe Martin is two miles away for shops, a beach, and that coast path. The sunsets from there are very good. Ilfracombe is about four miles. It's a proper old harbour town with fish and chips, boats, and that big Verity statue by Damien Hirst on the pier.
If you've got children, Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park is close by. Watermouth Castle is nearby too. For a good walk, the South West Coast Path is all along here. You can get boat trips from Ilfracombe to see seals or go to Lundy Island.
Exmoor National Park starts about seven miles away. The Tarka Trail for cycling is easy to get to from Barnstaple. Lynton and Lynmouth are about half an hour's drive, up on the cliffs.
Facilities: everything listed is here. WiFi, parking, bedding and towels included. We've got a cot and a highchair. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, but the bedrooms are on the lower ground floor, so there are steps down to them. You can bring two dogs. We do Christmas bookings.
