The Shippon
The Shippon is a barn conversion on our small complex of five star places near Berrynarbor. Ours is the house next door. You turn off the main road onto a private farm lane to get here. It's detached, with its own garden and orchard area. The views are over fields, and you can see across the Bristol Channel to Wales on a clear day.
It sleeps eight people. Four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, which is handy. The main living space is all open plan, so the kitchen, dining and sitting area are together. There's a big island in the kitchen with an induction hob. The previous owners left a piano in the lounge, so that's there if anyone plays.
The garden is raised up, so you get a good view from there. There's parking right outside.
The nearest proper beach is about three miles away, at Combe Martin or Hele Bay. Ilfracombe harbour is about four miles. It's a proper working port. You can get boat trips from there, like going to Lundy Island or sea safaris. The South West Coast Path runs along the coast here.
You're in the North Devon National Landscape, which used to be called an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For a big day out, Exmoor National Park is about twenty minutes by car. The Valley of the Rocks at Lynton is worth seeing.
There are a few pubs within a reasonable walk, about half an hour or so on foot. The Sawmills in Watermouth Valley, the 1675 in Berrynarbor village, and the Sandy Cove Hotel.
Inside, it's got underfloor heating and a wood burning stove. There's a dishwasher, washing machine, and Wi-Fi. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring up to two dogs. There's also a games room with a pool table.
