Welcome to Fernbank, a light airy cottage located just above the village square of Porthscatho on the Roseland Peninsula, which provides a lovely retreat for families and couples. On the first floor are two bedrooms sleeping four, and the master bedroom boasts sea views. There is ample room downstairs with a separate living room and dining room, both with cosy wood burners, and a well-equipped kitchen. Doors from the living room and kitchen lead into the garden, where there is a lovely decked area and sunny courtyard where you can enjoy the night skies or dine al fresco. The property is powered with the assistance of solar panels.
The village of Portscatho lies on the south westerly corner of Gerrans Bay. The coves are sheltered, making the sandy beaches favourite with families. Two minutes’ walk from the property is the village with a range of shops, as well as a lovely pub, ideal if you do not fancy cooking! Five minutes walk up the hill takes you to the village of Gerrans, home to a medieval church, a few local shops selling local produce and a pub serving food.
During your stay, a visit to St Mawes is essential, just 3½ miles away. A vibrant fishing village surrounded by shops, café’s and restaurants, walk to St Mawes Castle, visit the subtropical gardens of Lammorran, spend time on the beach or enjoy the lovely local walks. Why not hire a boat or try one of the many water sports available? If you are looking for something more relaxing, why not wander around the galleries, visit a museum or book a fishing trip. An experience is catching the St Mawes Ferry to Falmouth, then take a pleasure cruise up the creeks of the Helford River, try a sea safari and look for dolphins, seals and sea birds, or go on a river trip stopping at Malpas and Trelissick. There really is something for everyone, beaches, fishing, walking, water sports and history, not forgetting visiting the beautiful city of Truro.
