This is Alt Ardoch Cottage. It's up near Gortonallister on Arran. The position is high, so you get good views out to the sea and back to the hills.
It's a standard cottage for the island. Sleeps four, two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well equipped and comfortable. We allow up to two dogs.
The garden has a lot of shrubs and flowers. There's seating where you can sit and look at the view. Behind the cottage there's pine forest with trails for walking or cycling that eventually link down to the villages.
Lamlash is the nearest village. It's got a safe bay, so you often see yachts. You can get a small boat from there over to the Holy Isle. It's a Buddhist community, with goats and ponies wandering about. People go kayaking or on powerboat trips from the bay too. We often see seals on the rocks.
A couple of miles south is Whiting Bay. It's got a few useful shops and a golf course. There's a walk through the woods there to Glenashdale Falls, which is worth seeing.
Inside, it's got what you'd expect: Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.
If you're looking for information about things to do, the VisitScotland page for Arran is a good start, and the National Trust for Scotland looks after some properties on the island.
