Ingleside is our family house in Whiting Bay. It's a detached sandstone place, been in the family years. It's on the road just up from the village.
It sleeps five, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. We've done it up a bit inside but kept a lot of the old features. The stairs are typical for a house like this, so they're a bit steeper and narrower than a modern house.
There's an open fire in the living room and a wood burner in the dining room. We leave you some wood to get started. The dining room has a couple of armchairs by the stove too, it's a nice quiet spot. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine.
Outside, there's a grassy bit and a patio with some furniture. The driveway is shared with the neighbour, but the garden is yours. You can park right outside.
Whiting Bay village is a short walk down the hill. There's a pub, a restaurant, a coffee shop, and a post office with a small shop. The beach with a playpark is about ten minutes walk further on, at Sandbraes.
The best thing is the walking from the door. The path to Glenashdale Falls and the Giants' Graves starts practically opposite the house. It's a circular walk through the woods, up to a viewing platform for the waterfall. You can follow the forestry tracks to Lamlash or Kildonan if you want a longer hike.
You can fish and there's a golf course nearby. For a day out, the ferry to Brodick from Auchnagall is about half an hour's drive, and from there you can explore more of Arran. The main< a href="https://www.nts.org.uk/visit/places/arran" target="_blank">National Trust for Scotland Arran page is useful for planning. Also, Forestry and Land Scotland for Arran has good trail maps.
Facilities: all the bedding and towels are included. There's a cot, a highchair, and a stairgate if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome. The wifi works, but it's an island, so it's not super-fast.
