Ivy Cottage is about half a mile from Whiting Bay beach. It's detached, but right next to our house. We had it renovated a few years ago so it's got modern plumbing and heating, but kept the old stone walls and beams. They're proper thick walls.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. There's one single bedroom downstairs. The stairs come straight off the living area, so it's a bit of an open plan layout. It's been given a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean.
The ceilings upstairs slope quite a bit, so you do need to watch your head. It just comes with the building. There's a wood burner in the living room. Out the front there's a small patio with seating. You can hear the stream from there.
It's about half a mile down to Whiting Bay. It's downhill going, but uphill coming back, just so you know. The village has a shop, a post office, a coffee shop, a restaurant and a bar. There's a putting green and bowling green by the beach.
The main thing here is the walking. Glenashdale Falls is right on the doorstep. You can walk from the cottage into the woods and see the falls. You can carry on from there to Lamlash or Kildonan if you want a longer hike. The golf club is a few minutes' drive away.
We allow one dog. There's parking on the gravel drive. It has a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them.
