Almird Cottage is a small house on Millard Place in Lamlash. Lamlash is on the east coast of the Isle of Arran, on the main road into the village.
It sleeps two people in one main bedroom. There's a second, smaller room we use as a single. The main bedroom doesn't have a door on it, it's open off the living area. It’s private enough, but it’s something to be aware of.
It’s a Three Star property. That means it’s clean, comfortable and everything works, but it’s not a hotel finish. The shower is good. There’s a woodburning stove in the living room that heats the place nicely.
You’ve got a fully enclosed garden at the back, which is sunny. There's a patio with a table and chairs, and a barbecue. It's a quiet spot, mostly neighbours.
It's about a ten-minute walk to the village centre and the bay. There’s a Co-op for shopping, and a few pubs and places to eat. The golf club is just down the road. The beach is shingle.
The main attraction is probably the location for getting out and about. You can catch the ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick, and then it’s a short drive or bus ride down to Lamlash. From here you can walk up Glen Rosa or Goatfell if you’re feeling fit. The coast path is accessible from the village. Holy Isle is right there in the bay, you can get a boat trip across.
Further afield, you’re well placed to drive around the rest of the island to places like Lochranza in the north or Blackwaterfoot in the west. The whole circuit is a decent day out.
For facilities: there’s parking right outside, wifi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
