Southcroft Lodge is just outside Whiting Bay on Arran. It's a bungalow, so everything's on one level. That's good if you don't like stairs. It sleeps seven in four bedrooms, but there's just the one bathroom.
It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The garden is enclosed, which is useful if you're bringing dogs. Speaking of which, you can bring up to two.
The view is the main thing. You look right out over the bay to Holy Isle. The sunsets from the living room are very good. On a clear night, you can see a lot of stars.
For the area, Whiting Bay has a shop, a couple of places to eat, and a beach. It's a quiet spot. You can walk down to the shore in a few minutes.
The whole island is easy to get to from here. Brodick is about a 20 minute drive north. That's where the ferry comes in and where the big Co-op is. Lamlash is even closer, maybe 10 minutes. You can get the little ferry over to Holy Isle from there. It's a nature reserve run by a Buddhist community.
If you like walking, Goatfell is the big one. The path starts near Brodick Castle. For a slightly easier walk with great views, the path up to Glenashdale Falls starts in Whiting Bay itself. The coast path runs right past the cottage too.

Inside, it's got what you'd need: a woodburner for cooler evenings, a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and the bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. The TV has satellite channels.
It's a straightforward place in a good spot for seeing the island.
