Gowanhill

Gowanhill is in Whiting Bay on Arran. It's a detached house, so no neighbours through the wall. It sleeps ten people in four bedrooms, with three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The main thing is the view. It looks right out over the bay. There's a garden and a patio to sit out in.

Inside, there's a wood burning stove for cooler evenings. It's got a games room, which is useful if the weather turns. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. The WiFi works. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.

Whiting Bay itself has a few shops and a post office. There's a local bar, Eden Lodge, within walking distance. The village has a golf course and a pitch and putt. A walking trail from the village leads to Glenashdale Falls and the Giant's Graves, which are ancient burial sites.

Lamlash is the next village along. The bay there is a protected marine area, so it's good for kayaking. You can get a small ferry from there over to the Holy Isle, which is a Buddhist community with wild ponies and goats.

For a day out, Brodick Castle is about a twenty minute drive. You can tour the Arran Distillery in Lochranza, which is maybe thirty minutes by car. The cheese shop and Arran Aromatics are in Brodick too. If you want to go further, you can get a ferry from Lochranza over to Kintyre.
