An Cala

It’s called An Cala. It's in Brodick on Arran. The house is detached, so no one sharing the walls.

It sleeps eight. Five bedrooms and three bathrooms, so you won’t be queuing. It's rated 4 Star. It's comfortable and well-equipped, it's not just basics.

It looks out over the water towards Goatfell. You get good sunsets from the front. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing dogs. They allow two.

You're right on the edge of Brodick. It’s a short walk down to the bay and the local shops. There's a pub nearby too. Parking is on site.

The house has a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.

Arran's good because you can do a lot without driving for hours. You can walk up Goatfell from Brodick if you want a proper mountain day. The coast path is accessible. The beach at Brodick Bay is just down the hill.

For a day out, you can drive to Lochranza to see the castle and maybe spot deer. The National Trust for Scotland looks after Brodick Castle and Glen, which is just along the road. The distillery at Lochranza does tours. The ferry to the Holy Isle leaves from Lamlash, which is about a ten-minute drive.

If you want to go further, the whole island is within about 30 minutes by car. You can get to the south end, Lagg, for its distillery and quiet coast. A day trip to the Kintyre peninsula from Lochranza on the ferry is possible if you're organised.
