Craigard Cottage

Craigard Cottage is in Corrie on Arran. It's a red sandstone cottage we renovated a few years ago. Sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms, which is handy.

It's quiet here. The garden has trees around it and there's a stream at the back. You can see the mountains from upstairs. We've seen red squirrels out there.

Inside, it's all new. There's a wood burner for cool evenings. The kitchen doors open onto the patio if you want to sit outside. The utility room is useful for dumping wet coats and boots.

The stairs are a typical cottage spiral. They're steep and a bit narrow, so you need to be careful.

Upstairs, the main bedroom has windows in the roof so it's bright. The twin room looks towards the sea. We've even seen otters from the bathroom window once. There's a small area on the landing with some toys for kids.

You share the driveway with the bigger house next door, Craegard House, but you have your own parking. The two can be booked together if you're a bigger group.

Corrie itself is small. There's a hotel that does food and has live music sometimes, and a kids' play park. Brodick, with the main shops, is about six miles away.

For getting out, you're right on the coast. The path up Goatfell starts nearby. You're close to good golf and lots of walks. The whole island is easy to explore from here.

Facilities are all there: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. We've left a cot and highchair if you need them.
