Tuckenhay, Papermaker's
The place is called Papermaker's Cottage in Tuckenhay. It's part of an old paper mill right on the river. You're a bit inland, on a quiet creek off the River Dart.
It sleeps eight, but there are only three bedrooms. That's because they're all big, with an en-suite bathroom each. So everyone gets their own space.
The cottage itself is modern inside. It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything's clean and works.
The best bit is the location. You're right in the middle of it. There are other cottages around, but the setting is very green and quiet. You can walk down to the water.
Because it's part of the mill, you get to use the leisure facilities. There are two indoor swimming pools and one outdoor one. There's also a games room and a sauna. It's all on site.
There's a pub you can walk to, about ten minutes along the lane. For a shop, you'll need to drive to Totnes. That's about three miles.
Dartmouth is five miles away. You can get boats from there. The coast is about a twenty minute drive. Blackpool Sands is a good beach. If you want to surf, Bantham is about half an hour.
For walking, you've got the South West Coast Path nearby and Dartmoor is not far either. The National Trust has a few houses close by, like Greenway.
Facilities: it has the basics. Washing machine, dishwasher, TV, WiFi. There's a patio and a BBQ. Parking for two cars. They allow one well-behaved dog. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
