Tuckenhay, 1 Castle Cottage

I own one of the cottages at Tuckenhay Mill. It's called 1 Castle Cottage. It sleeps five in three bedrooms and has two bathrooms. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.

The cottage is one of a few around the old paper mill. The mill buildings are right on Bow Creek, which is a quiet offshoot of the River Dart. It's a peaceful spot, tucked back from the main road.

There are shared leisure facilities on the site. That includes indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a games room, and a sauna. There's also a kids' play area. The gardens are shared, but you get your own parking space.

Inside, it's straightforward. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living area, and a kitchen. There's a washing machine, TV, and bedding is included. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring one well-behaved dog.

The stairs are a bit steep, just so you know. It's an old building.

There's a riverside pub you can walk to. For a shop, you'd need to drive to Totnes, which is about three miles away.

Location wise, it's good. You're about five miles from Dartmouth, which has the castle and the river ferries. The coast at places like Blackpool Sands is about a 20 minute drive. For a surfing beach, Bantham is about half an hour.

If you like walking, the South West Coast Path is easily reached. Dartmoor is about a 30 minute drive inland. For a day out, the National Trust's Greenway (Agatha Christie's house) is nearby, and so is the Dartmoor National Park authority site for planning walks.
