Tuckenhay is up Bow Creek on the River Dart. It's the old mill site. Mill Spring is one of the cottages there, on three floors. It’s a 4 Star property, which means it’s comfortable and well looked after.
It sleeps three, in two bedrooms. One double and one small single. There’s one bathroom. You can bring a dog.
The living, kitchen and dining area is on the top floor. It has high ceilings and two south-facing balconies that overlook the water. The main bedroom is on the floor below. On the ground floor is a riverside day room which opens to a small private area. A footpath from there takes you over a bridge to the main mill facilities.
Those facilities are shared with the other cottages. There are three swimming pools, two indoors and one outdoors. There’s also a games room, a sauna, and a kids' play area.
The cottage itself has the usual things: TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding is included. There’s a cot and highchair if you need them. Parking is on site.
There’s a riverside pub you can walk to. For groceries, Totnes is about three miles away. Dartmouth is five miles.
The coast is about twenty minutes by car. Blackpool Sands is that way. Bantham beach, which is good for surfing, is about half an hour. The South West Coast Path is easily reached from there. Dartmoor is within half an hour for walking.
If you’re planning days out, these sites are useful: National Trust Devon and Dartmoor National Park. For local information, Visit Devon is the official site.
