Mad Nelly Cottage
Mad Nelly Cottage is one of four barn conversions here at Wheeldon Farm, near Curtisknowle. It's on a working farm with 240 acres of land. You're about halfway between Dartmoor and the south Devon coast.
It sleeps six people in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, which is handy with that many people. It’s got a 4 Star rating. The master bedroom has a TV in it.
You get your own patio and garden area. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings. It's pet friendly, up to two dogs.
On the site itself, there's a heated indoor swimming pool with a private changing room. There's a big games room over two floors with an American pool table, table football, and table tennis. Downstairs there's also a small gym with a treadmill and some other equipment. That's all included.
The farm also runs an off-road motorbike centre next door. You can book lessons for that, from age seven upwards. They provide all the kit. It's a separate charge and needs booking ahead. They can also arrange other things like clay shooting or archery on certain days, again for an extra fee.
The nearest pub is about two miles away. A shop is three miles. Totnes is seven miles, that's your proper town with shops and places to eat. It's on the River Dart so you can get boat trips from there. Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are both about seven miles too, which is where you’ll find the sailing and some good beaches. For a bigger beach day, the seaside at Paignton or Torquay is about 40 minutes in the car.
Facilities here include a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. They have a cot and highchair if you need them.
