Barley Cottage is in Brownston, Devon. It's on the Colmer Estate, a private estate near Modbury. The cottage is one of twenty in a group, all built from stone. It's terraced.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms. One bathroom with a shower over the bath. One bedroom has a double bed, the other has bunk beds. We accept one well-behaved pet.
The cottage has a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. The stairs are a bit steep, which is normal for these cottages.
Downstairs is open plan. There's a kitchen area with an electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, and a coffee pod machine. The living area has a TV with Freeview and an electric wood burner effect stove. There's an enclosed patio out front with a table and chairs. It gets the sun in the evening.
Upstairs, a door leads out to a lawn area behind the cottage. From there, you can walk to the estate facilities.
The estate has 28 acres of grounds. There are woods, a fishing lake, streams, and meadows. You're welcome to walk around and explore. You'll see a lot of wildlife. There's a large heated outdoor swimming pool for guests. There's also an indoor pool open from April to October. There are shared tennis courts, a games room with table tennis, a small gym, and a children's play area in a walled garden. All of that is a short walk from the cottage.
There's a Spar shop about a ten minute walk away. The local pub, which does food, is about the same distance. For fresh produce, Ringfeeder Farm Shop is a three minute drive.
You're well placed for getting around. The South Devon coast with its beaches and the South West Coast Path is about a fifteen minute drive. Dartmoor National Park is about ten minutes away. Towns like Salcombe, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, and Modbury are all within a thirty minute drive.
Facilities included: all bedding and towels, wifi, one parking space, dishwasher, enclosed garden. You have use of the shared pools, tennis court, gym, and games room.
