Beacon Cottage
Beacon Cottage is on the edge of Ivybridge. It's a detached house, not a cottage really, more of a proper house. Right behind it, literally over the garden wall, is Dartmoor National Park. The view from the front is the main thing. You look out over fields all the way to the sea. On a clear day you can see the water at Mothercombe.
It sleeps five in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well equipped and kept to a high standard. It's spacious inside, lots of light. There's an open fire in the living room for winter.
The kitchen has an Aga. It also has a standard electric cooker and an induction hob, so you can use whatever you're comfortable with.
You can walk straight onto the moor from the garden. That's the start of the Two Moors Way. Ivybridge is about a mile away for shops and things. There's an indoor pool and a leisure centre there. The train station is about a mile away too, with links to Plymouth.
For beaches, Mothercombe and Bigbury-on-Sea are about ten miles. Bigbury has that tractor that takes you over to Burgh Island when the tide's out.
Plymouth is 20 minutes in the car. Totnes is about half an hour. A lot of the other big attractions, like Dartmoor Zoo or Woodlands, are within a 30 minute drive as well.
Facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot and highchair if needed. Bedding and towels are included. We keep some beach gear and garden games in the garage for people to use. No pets.
