Tuckenhay, Vat House Cottage

This is Vat House Cottage in Tuckenhay. It's on the grounds of the old paper mill, right on a creek off the River Dart. The place sleeps four, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well equipped and comfortable.

You're on the lower floor of a converted mill building. The main living space is upstairs, so there are steps inside. The ceilings are good and high. It's quiet here, and you can hear the water running past outside.

There's a shared garden area with a footbridge that leads over to the main Mill House. That's where the leisure facilities are: two indoor pools, an outdoor pool, a sauna, and a games room. You get full access to those.

Locally, the village pub is about a ten-minute walk along the lane. It does food. For supplies, Totnes is a ten-minute drive away. It's a market town with a good selection of shops. Dartmouth is about fifteen minutes by car. That's where you'll find the castle and the river ferries.

For a good beach day, Blackpool Sands is about twenty minutes drive. It's a sheltered bay with a cafe. If you want surfing, Bantham is about half an hour away. You can walk parts of the South West Coast Path from either.

The property has on-site parking, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding is included. One well-behaved dog is welcome.

If you're planning trips, the National Trust Devon page is useful for places like Greenway, Agatha Christie's house nearby. For walks, the Dartmoor National Park site has good information.
