Tuckenhay, Mill Leat

It's called Mill Leat. It's in Tuckenhay, which is up Bow Creek from the River Dart. It's for two people.

The cottage is on two floors. Upstairs is the living area with the kitchen and a table. There are two balconies that face south, over the stream towards the old mill building. Downstairs is the bedroom and the shower room. There's also a day room that looks out towards the water. You have your own little footpath from the garden over a bridge to get to the main leisure facilities.

The stairs between the floors are a proper, steep cottage staircase. Just so you know.

The place is part of Tuckenhay Mill, which is a converted paper mill. There are other cottages around if you were coming with more people, but Mill Leat is just for a couple. You get access to the shared facilities. That means two indoor swimming pools, one outdoor pool, a sauna, and a games room. There's also parking on site.

In terms of what's here, it's got a washing machine, TV, and bedding is included. There's a BBQ in your garden area.

There's a pub and restaurant you can walk to along the creek. For a shop, you'd need to drive to Totnes, which is about three miles. Dartmouth is about five miles away. The coast isn't far. Blackpool Sands beach is about twenty minutes by car. Bantham, for surfing, is about half an hour.

If you like walking, the South West Coast Path is easily reached. Dartmoor is about thirty minutes inland. For National Trust, there's Greenway (Agatha Christie's house) nearby, and other houses like Saltram a bit further.

It's a 4 Star place. That means it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's not overly fancy, but it's a good spot if you want to be near the river and the sea without being right in a town.
