Tuckenhay, Mill Lodge

This is Mill Lodge in Tuckenhay. It's a detached house that sleeps eight people. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms.

It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's well-equipped and comfortable. It's not a show home, it's a proper place to stay. You get your own garden and patio with a BBQ.

The property is part of Tuckenhay Mill, which is a converted paper mill. The buildings are listed and the conversion won awards. There are shared facilities on the site: two indoor swimming pools, one outdoor pool, a games room, a sauna, and a kids' play area. You can walk to them from the lodge via your own footpath and a little bridge.

The location is inland, along Bow Creek which feeds into the River Dart. It's green and quiet. There's a pub you can walk to, about a mile away. It does food. The nearest proper shop is about three and a half miles away in Totnes.

Dartmouth is five miles. Totnes is three miles. Both are good for shops, cafes, and the river. For a good beach, Blackpool Sands is about a 20 minute drive. Bantham, which is good for surfing, is about half an hour.

You're well placed for the South West Coast Path if you like walking. Dartmoor is about a 40 minute drive. There are National Trust places nearby, like Greenway, which was Agatha Christie's house.

Inside, you've got a wood burning stove, a TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding is included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring one dog.
