Tuckenhay, Mill Lodge
Mill Lodge is one of the cottages at Tuckenhay Mill in Devon. It's detached, sleeps eight, and has five bedrooms and three bathrooms. It has that 5 Star rating, so it's well equipped and comfortable.
The main thing here is the setting. The old paper mill is right on a creek off the River Dart. It's quiet and green. You'll hear the water. Mill Lodge itself has a patio and garden area.
There are shared facilities on the site because it's a converted mill with a few cottages. That means there are indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a games room, and a sauna. There's also a kids' play area. It's good if you're a bigger group or have children, as there's space for them to run about.
Inside, it's straightforward. There's a woodburning stove, a TV, dishwasher, washing machine, and bedding is included. You can bring one dog. They provide a cot and highchair if you need them.
There's a pub you can walk to along the river, about a mile away. For a shop, you'll need to drive to Totnes, which is about three miles. It's a proper market town.
You're about a 20-minute drive from the coast at places like Blackpool Sands. Dartmouth is about five miles for sailing and boats. Dartmoor is within half an hour for walking. If you want a surfing beach, Bantham is about 30 minutes away.
