Tuckenhay, 2 Castle Cottage
This is 2 Castle Cottage in Tuckenhay. It’s on the edge of Tuckenhay Mill, which is a converted paper mill on Bow Creek, part of the River Dart. The cottage itself is one of a few buildings set back from the water. It’s quiet, mostly just the sound of the stream.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It’s got a 4 Star rating, which means it’s well-equipped and comfortable. The stairs are a bit steep and narrow in places, which is typical for these old mill buildings.
You’re sharing a site with other cottages here. There are two indoor swimming pools and an outdoor one, plus a sauna and a games room. They’re all available for you to use. The facilities are a short walk from the cottage, down a footpath and over a little bridge.
The cottage has a washing machine, parking, Wi-Fi, and bedding is included. You can bring one dog.
There’s a pub you can walk to along the lane, it does food. For a proper shop you’ll need to drive to Totnes, which is about three miles away. Dartmouth is about five miles.
It’s a good spot if you want to be near the coast but not right on it. Blackpool Sands beach is about a twenty minute drive. Bantham for surfing is about half an hour. For walking, you’ve got the South West Coast Path and Dartmoor close by. The National Trust’s Greenway is nearby too.
