Mill Bank is number 8 at Tuckenhay Mill, near Totnes. It's a two-person place, despite having two bathrooms and a day room. The layout is upside down: you walk in to the kitchen and living area on the top floor, which has two balconies overlooking the stream. The bedroom and main shower room are down a flight of stairs on the middle floor. Then there's another level down to a day room that looks out toward the river.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and has everything you need. The stairs between the main floors are a standard staircase, but the steps down to the riverside day room are a bit steeper, more like a ship's ladder. Just something to be aware of.
You get your own little garden with a footbridge that leads over to the old mill. That's where the shared leisure facilities are: two indoor swimming pools and one outdoor pool. There's also a games room and a launderette over there.
The area is quiet. There's a pub, the Maltsters Arms, which you can walk to along the creek path. It does food. For a proper shop, you need to drive to Totnes, which is about three miles.
Location is the main thing here. You're about five miles from Dartmouth, so 15 minutes in the car. Blackpool Sands beach is about 20 minutes drive. For surfing, Bantham is around half an hour. Dartmoor is easily within reach for a day out, maybe 40 minutes to the edge of the park.
The cottage has a wood burning stove, wifi, and parking for one car right outside. Pets are allowed, up to two. Bedding and towels are included. You've got a washing machine, dishwasher, and a barbecue in the garden.
