Carriage House

Carriage House is in Trenance, which is a hamlet just inland between Mawgan Porth and Bedruthan Steps. It's a detached stone building that used to be part of the farm. The main living area is upstairs to make the most of the view.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms downstairs, one double and one twin, and a family bathroom. Upstairs is the kitchen, dining and sitting room all in one space. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable and has everything you need, but it's not a fancy new build. The stairs are a typical cottage staircase, so they're a bit steeper and narrower than in a modern house.

You get the garden to yourselves, with a patio and a BBQ. There's parking right outside. We can take up to two dogs. Bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and we can provide a cot, highchair and stairgate if you need them.

The location is the main thing. You're a five minute walk from the coast path and the steps down to Bedruthan Steps beach, which is National Trust land. The view from the upstairs window looks straight out over the fields to the sea and Trevose Lighthouse in the distance. Because there's not much light pollution around here, the night sky on a clear night is really something.

Mawgan Porth beach is about a mile down the road. It's a good, wide sandy beach with a few shops and places to eat. For surfing, you've got Watergate Bay about ten minutes' drive north, and Harlyn Bay for beginners a similar distance south. Padstow is about fifteen minutes by car, and Newquay is twenty minutes the other way.

If you're planning days out, the National Trust Cornwall page is useful, as is the South West Coast Path site for walking routes.
