The Old Barn is in St Day, which is one of those small Cornish villages up on the old mining hills. It's a converted barn, so it's a single, tall space. You come in down a few stone steps into the main living area.
It sleeps four, but there's one bedroom. That's because the bedroom is up on a mezzanine floor above the living room. You get up there via a wooden staircase. It's a proper staircase, not a ladder, but it's open-tread and fairly steep. Something to be aware of if you've got very young children or anyone unsteady on their feet. We provide a stairgate. The bathroom is downstairs.
There's a wood burner for colder evenings. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing a dog. We allow one well-behaved pet. Parking is right outside.
In the village, there's a shop for basics and two pubs within walking distance. For a bigger shop, you'd drive to St Agnes or Truro. Truro has the cathedral, an indoor market, and the usual town things, about a 15-minute drive.
The coast is close. Porthtowan beach is about a 10-minute drive. It's a good surf beach. Portreath and Perranporth are within 20-30 minutes. St Agnes itself has a nice high street with cafes and some craft shops.
If you're looking for days out, the National Trust in Cornwall has plenty of coastal properties and walks. The Visit Cornwall site is useful for checking what's on. The Eden Project is about a 40-minute drive, Falmouth with its maritime museum is about half an hour.
Everything is included: bedding, towels, electricity. There's a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. We also have a cot and a highchair if you need them.
