Ash Tree Cottage

Ash Tree Cottage is in Four Lanes. It's a single-storey place, converted from an old cow barn. The ceilings are high and you can see the beams. There's one bedroom for two people. It's got a four star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after.

The big picture window at the front is the main thing. It looks west, so you get the sunsets. On a clear evening, you can see all the way to St Ives across the fields.

It's a bungalow, so everything is on one level. That makes it straightforward. There's underfloor heating, which is good for the cooler months. You get a parking space right outside.

The cottage sits right near the Great Flat Lode footpaths. You can walk straight out the door onto them. The Cornish Way cycle route is close by too. If you're interested in the mining history, you're surrounded by it. The area is full of the old engine houses and stacks. The Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape site explains it all.

For the coast, it's about a fifteen minute drive either way. You can get to the north coast beaches, like Praa Sands or Porthleven, or down to the south coast around Falmouth. They're different. The north has the bigger waves and cliffs, the south is a bit more sheltered.

There's a pub that does food half a mile down the road. The nearest shop is about a mile away in the village.

Inside, it's open plan. There's a kitchen area, a sitting area, and the bedroom leads off from that. It's all included: the bedding, towels, WiFi, and there's a washing machine. We can provide a cot if you need one.

For a longer day out, St Ives or Penzance are about half an hour's drive. Lands End is a bit further. The Eden Project is roughly an hour away. The National Trust Cornwall page is useful for gardens and coast walks.
