High Lanes is on the edge of a small wood near Connor Downs. It's a detached stone cottage, so you're on your own. The garden is fully enclosed, which is good if you've got a dog. It's mostly gravel with some flower beds.
It sleeps four, two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. There's a wood burner in the main living room and another smaller one in the conservatory. The conservatory gets the sun in the morning.
You're about four miles from the beach at Hayle. That's a long, sandy beach, good for walking and the dog. Gwithian beach is a bit further up, popular with surfers. For a proper day out, St Ives is a short drive. It gets busy, but you can take the coastal train from St Erth station to avoid the car parks. The National Trust Cornwall page is useful for that area.
Inland, Tehidy Country Park is close by. Miles of paths for walking or cycling, and a café. If you're a walker, the South West Coast Path is easily accessible. For cyclists, the old mineral tramway from Portreath to Devoran is a traffic-free route right across the peninsula.
Further west, you've got places like St Michael's Mount and the Minack Theatre at Porthcurno. Both are within a half hour drive, but check tide times for the Mount.
Facilities: it's got the basics like a washing machine and dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. One well-behaved dog is allowed. There's parking right outside.
For local information, Visit Cornwall is the main site. There's a pub and a farm shop with a café about a mile away in Connor Downs.
